People naturally have a lot of questions about lithium so if you have any questions or concerns, please do get in contact as it will be a pleasure to hear from you.
Can you replace your current lead-acid battery with a lithium one?
All of our batteries are designed as a drop-in replacement for existing lead-acid batteries. 99% of the time, there is no need to replace existing chargers or equipment, but there may be a selectable mode that may be more suitable for lithium - we can advise how to switch modes on chargers at any point or advise if your equipment is compatible.
What is the benefit?
Lithium (or LiFePO4) batteries can offer over twice the capacity as a normal lead-acid battery while being smaller, lighter and cheaper in the long term. For example, our 100Ah lithium is equivalent to a 284Ah lead-acid battery while only weighing 11Kg.
This allows for weeks off-grid and an extreme lifespan for your battery - we're confident our batteries will be the last you'll ever need to buy.
Are they safe?
LiFePO4 batteries are inherently safe both chemically and thermally and do not use rare materials like Cobalt or Nickel. The omission of Cobalt vastly reduces the chance of starting thermal runaway or fires. Many now consider LiFePO4 to be safer than lead-acid thanks to their stability and internal control. They can be used in any orientation (e.g. on its side). They contain absolutely no acid, generate no gas emissions and are recyclable.
Is it worth the cost?
Despite its high initial cost, TITAN lithium is cheaper than its lead-acid counterparts over its lifespan.
Over a 10 year period, you may need to replace your lead-acid battery 2-3 times; we expect our average user to get 15-20 years out of one TITAN Lithium battery - added up, one lithium battery can save hundreds of pounds over its life, as well as outperform lead-acid in capacity.
